TALK: Meaning, Metaphor and Material – Understanding Clay

Saturday 2 February 2019

As our third Material Earth exhibition opens to the public, join ceramic artists from the show Thiébaut Chague, Stuart Allen and Amber Zuber for a panel discussion.

Thiébaut Chague began his career in 1976, training in France, Belgium and in England under Michael Cardew and Richard Batterham. His style is unusual in that every piece is unique. He works in stoneware with applied coloured slips and wood fires. Examples of his work can be found in many public collections across Europe in Belgium, France and Germany. He is represented in the V&A museum and has recently been exhibited in the Louvre.

Amber Zuber is an artist from Toronto, Canada. She recently earned her MA at the Royal College of Art in London, UK. In 2017 she was shortlisted for the Maylis Grand Ceramic Prize, and was previously a full-time Artist-in-Residence at Harbourfront Centre.

Stuart Allen studied at Bath College of Higher Education, graduating in 1989 and has recently completed an MA Ceramics and Glass at The Royal College of Art in London.
